First, I had the honor of being invited to their annual awards banquet. A celebration of all the hard work they've done this year, and an introduction for the clubs rising leadership for next year. We were also thrilled to welcome Carlos, the outgoing President of the Down town Phoenix campus club, and Andy, the President of the Glendale Community College club, who we will be welcoming as a Sun Devil this fall. It was really amazing and inspiring to see all the stuff they're doing down in Tucson for their Veterans and the community at large, and I learned a lot I hope to incorporate into our own plans. The big take away is that we as Veterans are a powerful force, and that if there's something that we can imagine, we have the tools and resources to turn it into action. Additionally, I was able to meet with Giovanni who's going to be taking over as President for the UA club in the fall, and we both agreed that maintaining a strong relationship between our schools is going to be the key to positively affecting the lives of Veterans in Arizona. Sun Devil or Wildcat, we all took up the charge to defend our great nation, and we all took the charge to continue that service when we laid down our swords and picked up our books.
Last night I had the pleasure of sitting in on a panel on Veterans Mental Health and some of the services and resources available for Tucson area Vets. We'll work closely with the facilities and providers up here to make sure that the best practices are being shared and that Veterans are receiving the best possible care, regardless of their locale. It's part of our warrior ethos to never leave a fallen comrade, and I firmly believe that this creed isn't something that applies solely to physical ailments. It's incumbent upon us to look our for our brothers in need, and we'll work hard to make sure they get the help to happy and successful.
It's going to be a great year for Student Veterans and it's truly an honor to be playing a part in it!
